At the heart of Innsbruck
ISH occupies a central but quiet location. The city centre is within walking distance, and it takes less than ten minutes to reach the Old Town.
ISH has direct access to the Inn promenade and cycle path.
ISH is also very well served by public transport. There is a stop just round the corner for bus route C (every 10 minutes during the week). The stops at "Freiburger Brücke", "Universität" and "Marktplatz" are served by the main bus and tram routes in Innsbruck and are just 500 or 800 metres away. Several universities and colleges, shops, a hospital and a green area are in the immediate vicinity.
Short distances to universities and colleges
With the central location of ISH and good public transport services, all the universities and colleges are easy to reach in a very short space of time, and some are actually neighbours:
- Main university buildings with the Faculties of Law and Humanities plus Chemistry and Pharmacy
- Medical Faculty
- Main university library
- Several Natural Science departments
Ausbildungszentrum West (AZW) with its university of applied science study programmes for health professions is just a five-minute walk away. The Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, the Theological Faculty and Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) with its various university of applied science study programmes are 15 minutes away on foot.
Pädagogische Hochschule Tirol (PHT) and the Tourism College are 25 or 30 minutes away on foot and are also well served by bus route T. The Technical Faculty in Technikerstrasse, the Botanical Institute, the University Sports Institute (USI) and the Private University for Health Sciences (UMIT) in Hall are easily reached by bus in about 20 minutes.
Convenient location for the motorway, railway stations and airport
ISH is ideally situated for local excursions and trips further afield. The motorway exit at Innsbruck-West is just down the road from ISH. The two railway stations (Hauptbahnhof and Westbahnhof) are a 20-minute walk or a short bus ride away. It is not even far to the international airport at Innsbruck-Kranebitten (INN): You can be at the terminal in about 15 minutes!
